What We Want
The Truth Magazine seeks writers and writing that convey thoughts
which challenge conventional methods and beliefs.  We want new and
different ideas.  Great writers have gotten where they are by saying what
wasn't said at their particular time.  Having explained that here our the
guidelines:

Fiction:  Fiction 500-5,000 words.  Fiction should compliment our
ongoing theme of originality.  We want pieces that stand out and writers
with something to say.  We aren't tied down to a particular type of fiction
as long as the voice is good.  Read our current fiction for examples.

Poetry:  We avoid fluffy, heart warming poetry unless it is outstanding
(which is rare).  We also avoid "sigh sigh death is near" poetry unless it
is outstanding.  What we look for is insightful, creative, unconventional
poetry which hasn't been done six thousand times.

Movie Reviews:  Generally we look for underground or alternative
movies.  We look for one popular movie a month, all others reviews
should be on uncommon films.  We want reviews with zazz.  We want
your opinion on the film and one scene that really stands out and why.
No longer than 1,000 words.  See the
list

Book Reviews:  For the most part we avoid best sellers, but are open to
anything of merit.  We strongly seek out books from small presses,
overlooked classics, and any book written well.  No longer than 1,000
words.  Also see our book list for reviews we'd like to see:
 list

The Scene:  Live performance critique, cd review, or interview.  Any
music that is upcoming irregardless of style.   We encourage
submissions of bands (not your brother's garage band that got together
last week) that may not be noticed by the public yet.  See our scene
section for examples.  No more than 1,000 words.  See the
list

Opinion:  Your opinion on something somewhat interesting to the public.
Consider it a public forum where you can scream whatever is on your
mind.  Our main requirement is that you be original, avoid trendy
subjects and overdone ones. 1,000 words or less.

How to Send it
The Truth Magazine accepts articles via electronic submissions.  We will
accept previously published articles as long as the rights are available.
Please type the name of your piece in the subject of the email.  If you do
not we will delete it without opening it.  It would also be refreshing if you
sent us a query to go along with your writing.  A few lines about you,
your submission, or just a hello.  Send the piece as a word attachment
and also in the body of the email.  Allow us thirty days to review your
work before sending another inquiry.  When we say thirty days, we mean
thirty days.  Ask on the status in thirty days if you haven't heard from us.
All submissions can be sent to
submissions@thetruthmagazine.com

What We Pay
The Truth Magazine acquires one time rights for electronic publication
for the period of one month.  All other rights are reserved by the author.
Work can be altered by The Truth Magazine as necessary, mainly for
purposes of space and grammar, but generally will not be altered.  We
do not pay.  All writers work on a voluntary basis until further notice.
Believe us, when money is earned, it will gladly be turned over to the
writers.  Until then consider it an opportunity for exposure to the public
and the chance to work on building a great magazine.  We put a lot of
work into this magazine and are shelling out our own money, so if your
piece more aptly belongs in a better magazine than this, well put it there.
The Truth Magazine does promote any writers it accepts for publication
to the best of our abilities.

Our Rant
We consider ourselves to be a professional magazine.
This means that we do want professional writers.  That doesn't
necessarily mean experienced, but it does mean common sense.  Submit
yourself, query, make sure the work is polished, refrain from making
unreasonable requests and allow us some time to look it over.  Relax.
You will not earn friends by failing to do these things.

Thanks,
Eds
